COMMODE - CHEST OF DRAWERS - CHEST OF DRAWERS FLAP TOP

The dresser, or the "commode" as it is universally known, was born in France at the end of the seventeenth century and was one of the most used furniture in antiquity. Usually with three drawers it was used in the bedrooms to hold linens, but it found its place, in a smaller version, also in corridors or other rooms. The plan was often made of marble, but those with an inlaid wood top are not rare. Particular mention is given to the chest of drawers with flap top which hide small drawers inside and the top served as a support for writing. This type of furniture found its place in different rooms of the house as writing was one of the most popular methods of communicating.
